Static Stretching versus Dynamic Stretching

Static Stretching have been for a long time the basic knowledge for any coach and athlete willing to warm up properly.
With new researches it appears Dynamic Stretching looks like a better way to prepare your body and muscles before an intensive effort.
I have been using Dynamic Stretching for over 10 years, with athletes and for myself, and will not switch back for Static Stretching; I have been a big supporter of Static Stretching for years and I figured out Dynamic Stretching was a great and efficient way to warm up.

Here's is a very interesting article about it.

10 steps to prepare a Marathon: Step 3 Picking the right program: One on one coaching

Tip 5: One on one program

It’s the most expensive program because the Coach is coming onsite for you and you only. That’s the big difference with Online custom programs; you are not on your own, sending feedbacks after the workout(s); the Coach is right there by your side.

10 steps to prepare a Marathon: Step 3 Picking the right program: club programs

Tip 4: Club programs

It’s kind of the same problem then training with a group, except that you are running in a structured environment, with a coach and leveled groups.

The good thing is that the coach is supposed to build different groups in his team depending on athletes’ abilities. So you can fit in one of these.
The only one important thing is to make sure you found the right club, but mainly the right coach.

10 steps to prepare a Marathon: Step 3 Picking the right program: Custom programs

24 weeks custom program for Boston Marathon (4 weeks training log)
Tip 3: Custom programs

Custom programs are designed by coaches and customized to your training needs.

Prices are more expensive and you will have to make sure which kind of program is sold to you (what format, how detailed it is, what services and tips, and of course, what price).

10 steps to prepare a Marathon: step 3 Picking the right program: training in a group

Tip 2: Training in a group

Now that’s a big dilemma.
On one’s hand you enjoy running with other people in a dynamic group and enjoyable atmosphere. And it is very exciting and motivating.
It’s a great experience, and to be honest, running alone can be boring sometimes, not to mention the fact that it can be difficult to be motivated when time comes to go for a run.

10 steps to prepare a Marathon: Step 3 Picking the right training program

Now that you picked up the right course and right equipment, you have to train and get ready for your race.
Well, that’s the tough part since it can lead to various consequences.
Injury is unfortunately the most common one, but you can be out of shape, mentally or physically burned out, unable to stand the distance, and so on…
